Parents Of Missing CU Student Ask For Search Volunteers

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The search has intensified for a University of Colorado student who has gone missing.

Tyler Allen, 20, is a sophomore communications student at CU in Boulder. His parents told CBS4 nobody has seen him in a week.

Berry and Sheryl Allen are hoping someone knows where their son is. They've come to Colorado from Western Springs, Illinois, a Chicago suburb where Tyler grew up.

Allen's family says he loves to hike, so his parents are trying to organize a search of the nearby trails and they're looking for volunteers to help. They will be meeting Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the base of the Chautauqua Trail on Baseline Road. A Facebook page has been created for information on the search.

"It's unbearable, but we need to do it, and it's important, and we're trying to stay strong and just make sure he comes home," Sheryl Allen said.

Tyler got to Boulder in January after enrolling as a transfer student. He lives off campus with roommates who last heard from Tyler on Thursday in a text message.

"His whole life is about the goodness in people and how he can make this world a better place," Sheryl Allen said.

His parent's say Tyler loves music and sings in the campus choir. They believe he's carrying his guitar and a laptop. He hasn't been to class or accessed his bank account in days.

"Come home Tyler," Berry Allen said.

"If someone could see his face anywhere and just call it in we would be most grateful," Sheryl Allen said.

Police are investigating but have no indication yet of where Tyler may be or what may have happened to him. He's described as a white male, 140 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who has any information about Tyler's whereabouts is asked to call the police.
