SWAT Officers Find Nothing, Suspects Left Strip Club

DENVER (CBS4) - SWAT officers were seen leaving a strip club about 9:30 a.m. where police had set up a perimeter early Tuesday morning. Police confirmed that the suspects believed to be inside had already left the building.

SWAT teams were called to the club to search for the possible armed suspects inside. After a thorough search, officers determined the suspects had left the building.

The club, PT's Showclub, is located near the intersection of West Evans Avenue and South Raritan Street.

Police rushed to the business after receiving a call about 6:20 a.m. Tuesday that four people with guns had entered PT's. Officers set up a barricade outside the building and traffic was diverted around the area.

The manager said all employees were safe and unharmed and were able to get out of the building.

Police said they continue to search for a motive but do not believe the public is in any danger.

"It appears they left the building. When Metro SWAT went inside the suspects were out of the building," said Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.

The heavy police activity started sometime after 7 a.m. and emergency crews closed Evans from Raritan to Osage to traffic.

"It appears to be an isolated case. It appears they were targeting PT's Showclub. The motive is unknown but we don't believe they are out, armed, in the community," said Lopez.

There is no suspect description. Police did not confirm whether they would continue searching for the suspects.

Nearby schools were placed on lockout. Denver Public Schools spokesman Doug Schepman said that security measure was lifted about 9:30 a.m.
