CDOT's Interstate Highway Bus Service Set To Begin July 23
DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Department of Transportation is set to launch its interstate highway bus service this summer.
Officials say the first passengers will begin arriving at Denver's downtown Union Station on July 13 through Colorado's first state-owned and operated bus system.
The Interstate 70 route will stop in Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Vail, Frisco, Lakewood and Denver. The Interregional Express bus service also will include routes from Fort Collins and Colorado Springs to Denver.
The project is funded by the 2009 FASTER bill, which raised car registration fees to pay for transportation projects.
There will be no weekend service, including service to the mountains that would compete with ski tours.
The service's 50-passenger buses are packed with amenities, including Wi-Fi, electrical outlets, USB ports, bike racks and bathrooms.
