Smoke could be seen from miles around in Parker. The flames started south of Main Street and west of 20 Mile Road.

Firefighters don't yet know how the fire started.

The wind helped out firefighters by shifting and keeping the fire from spreading. It remained about 2 acres and took about an hour for crews to get it contained.

The South Metro fire marshal pointed out that March and April are usually wet months, but unless there's some more moisture conditions are right for a pretty significant fire season in Colorado.
