Air Force Academy Cadet Death Spurs Special Investigation

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is handling the death investigation of an Air Force Academy cadet.

Cadet 1st Class Alexandre Quiros, 21, was found injured in a dorm room on campus and pronounced dead at 3:43 p.m. Thursday. The cause of his death is not known.

Quiros was a senior from Colorado Springs who was majoring in Astronautical Engineering. He made the Dean's List and Commandant's List multiple times.

"Our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences go out to the family and friends of Cadet Quiros. Yesterday, we lost a member of our Air Force Academy family, and it's a loss felt across our entire institution," said Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson, Air Force Academy Superintendent. "Right now, our focus is on providing all possible support to the friends and loved ones of our fallen Airman."
