The Beginning Of One Man's Madness

DENVER (CBS4) - You know what month it is. We don't have to tell you that March Madness is nearing its full mayhem. The upsets are real, the brackets are crumbling, and the cheerleaders deserve their own photo gallery.

To honor the madness, it seemed only appropriate that we feature one of our own learning the game of b-ball: Vic Lombardi as a fourth grader.

This picture is from Widget basketball (his young age group) at the Holy Family Grade School, which used to be in North Denver but no longer exists.

Vic has been playing basketball since fourth grade, and says it is his favorite sport. To this day, he still plays at least twice a week.

As for March Madness, Vic was pulled into the games around 1983 when NC State made its magical run. Since then he's been hooked.

Despite the exciting allure of the competition, Vic admitted, "my brackets always stink."

Besides, his favorite sports teams are those of his kids.
