Road Crews Continue Plowing Metro Streets

DENVER (CBS4)- With more snow in the forecast, drivers will have to take it slow along the Front Range for another day.

Denver Public Works has planned to keep its fleet of heavy snow plows deployed Thursday night and overnight into Friday.

Crews will remain on duty, plowing and distributing de-icing materials on Denver's main streets or most streets with stripes. These are the streets that carry most of the city's traffic.

Denver Public Works is urging drivers to go slowly, leave plenty of time to get to their destinations and be especially cautious on bridges and overpasses.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is on full snow patrol until further notice. CDOT also has advice for drivers.

"If you don't have snow tires, please get them now. There is no reason not to have them. Another thing is making sure your fluids are topped off, having water or food in the car in case you do get stuck somewhere for an hour or so if there's a closure," said Emily Wilfong. "Also making sure that you know alternate routes. If there is a closure, knowing other ways to get around it and just going slow, leaving yourself extra time.
