Parents In 'Mamma Bear' Mode While Acid Bomber Is Still On The Loose
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (CBS4) - The search continues for whoever left acid-filled explosive devices at two parks in Highlands Ranch.
One child was hurt Tuesday when the first device exploded in Dad Clark Park. A second one was found Wednesday at Marcy Park. That device did not go off.
There's now an increased police presence around all Douglas County parks, and extra vigilance from the families who frequent them.
"As a parent you always go into mama bear or papa bear mode where you want to guard and protect your kids," Highlands Ranch parent Brian Bradford said. "It makes me kind of just keep an extra eye on them every time."
The explosives look like innocent plastic bottles.
"We've had that talk about not picking things up," Highlands Ranch parent Kent Allison said.
"The first thing that comes to my mind is my kids, because it's one thing if I get hurt by someone doing something silly; but for my kids to get hurt, that's where it really strikes a chord," Bradford said.
The Douglas County School District sent out a Crime Stoppers alert Friday asking families to be watchful and reminding them, "If you see something, say something."
