Funeral For Girl Killed By Denver Police To Be Held Saturday

DENVER (AP) — The funeral for a 17-year-old girl shot to death by Denver police will be held Saturday.

A funeral mass for Jessie Hernandez will be held Saturday at Holy Trinity Church in Westminster at 10 a.m.

Police say Hernandez was shot Jan. 26 after she drove a stolen car toward an officer in a residential alley in Denver. However, a teen passenger in the car says Hernandez lost control of the car because she had already been shot and was unconscious.

The shooting is under investigation but the Hernandez family and others have called for an outside prosecutor to probe what happened.
