DIA Flight Delays Subsiding After Morning Snow
DENVER (CBS4) — After reaching flight delays of about an hour at Denver International Airport because of the snow Wednesday morning, delays started to subside around noon.
According to DIA spokeswoman Laura Coale, the majority of the snowfall passed by noon with an unofficial accumulation of about one inch.
Coale also said that the FAA cancelled the traffic management program, where flights were intentionally spread out to allow time for planes to be deiced and keep runways plowed and prevent passengers from being stuck in planes waiting for an open gate.
With the traffic management program no longer in place, Coale said the delays would begin to subside.
There were a total of nine cancellations at DIA, including Skywest and Great Lakes, smaller, commuter aircraft. DIA sees an average of 1,550 flights per day.
Snow removal crews will continue to clear the streets and runways and airlines are deicing.
