Breckenridge Massage Therapist Accused Of Sex Assault, Police Search For More Victims

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Breckenridge are concerned there may be more victims after a massage therapist has been accused of sexual assault.

"When you go to a massage therapy studio you have some confidence that the person has been well trained but of course anyone with a license can be a perpetrator," said 5th Judicial District Attorney Bruce Brown.

Police arrested massage therapist James Dickerson in August 2014 after he was accused of sexual assault after a 90-minute session with one of his clients.

"Who placed his hands upon her and touched her in places that nobody would want to be touched," Brown. "This is somebody in a vulnerable position, they're laying on a massage therapy table, usually with their clothes off."

Police are concerned because Breckenridge is a tourist destination and there may be more victims who left Colorado before making a police report.

"We believe he used his position in order to perpetrate sexually upon the survivor of this abuse," said Brown.

Dickerson has been charged with aggravated counts of sexual assault.

"We need our caretakers but it's a message that anybody can perpetrate upon you and if they do it's important to let law enforcement know," said Brown.

Court documents indicate this isn't the first time this has happened with Dickerson. He has a similar altercation while working along the Front Range. He was fired but that incident was not reported to police.
