Loveland Girl Dies After Falling Into Icy Pond

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- A little girl died Wednesday after she fell into an icy pond at a Loveland park where her family had gathered for soccer practice.

Emergency services personnel rushed to the Loveland Sports Park about 5:43 p.m. Wednesday on reports that a 4-year-old girl had fallen into an icy pond.

When they arrived they tried to resuscitate her and rushed her to Medical Center of the Rockies. Attempts to save her life were unsuccessful.

Police say the girl was at the park with her family for soccer practice. She was playing at a nearby playground when they believe she walked out onto the pond ice and fell through.

When her father could not see her at the playground, he searched for her, found her in the pond and pulled her from the water.

Loveland communications center personnel provided CPR instructions to people at the park until emergency personnel arrived.
