Officials Say Colorado Springs Patient Had Measles
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The El Paso County Public Health department says a patient who was diagnosed with measles at a Colorado Springs hospital after visiting a California theme park may have exposed other people to the virus.
The health department said Thursday the patient was treated at Penrose Hospital and is no longer contagious.
County public health director Dr. Bill Letson said Thursday most people are protected against measles, but unvaccinated patients who were at the hospital on Jan. 3 could be at risk.
He said those people should contact a doctor if they have a rash and fever.
Officials say seven Californians and two people in Utah have confirmed cases of measles likely contracted on trips last month to Disney theme parks.
