Over A Foot Of Snow Falls In Denver Since Christmas

DENVER (CBS4) - After a slow start to the snow season, things are looking better along the Front Range.

A series of storm systems have brought 14.4 inches of snow to Denver since Christmas night, bringing the total since September to 19.4 inches.

Denver typically sees just over 21 inches of snow between September and December.

The snow season began on July 1 and runs through June 30.

In an average season, 57.5 inches of snow falls in Denver.

To be on pace for an average year another 8.4 inches needs to fall by the end of January.

Should we fall short, there's still hope with Denver's two snowiest months ahead.

Denver averages 11.5 inches of snow in March and 9 inches in April.

A few dry days are in Denver's forecast for the first full week of 2015.

But if you're hoping for more snow, there is some good news.

The latest 3-month precipitation outlook from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for near to slightly above normal precipitation across Colorado.
