West Metro Fire Making Staff Cutbacks
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Budget cuts will force West Metro Fire Rescue to make some staff reductions starting next year that may result in delayed response time to those in need.
Among some of the biggest changes will also be seven fewer firefighters on each shift at West Metro fire stations, reducing the on-duty firefighters each day from 86 to 79.
The cutbacks are expected to bring a savings of $2.2 million a year.
The change was first announced after voters turned down a higher tax rate that would have left the current staffing intact in May 2014.
West Metro Fire will also conduct personnel cuts through attrition as well as demotions to save money.
