Suspect In Fatal Shooting In Westminster Is A Juvenile

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Westminster have one juvenile in custody in connection with a deadly shooting in Westminster on Friday.

The shooting happened at approximately 3 p.m. at 72nd Avenue and Raleigh Street near England Park.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses who saw the fight that led to the shooting in which one man was killed and another was injured.

Police don't know what prompted the fight and many residents say the area is typically safe.

"It kind of makes you wonder what was actually going on to where you are just shooting a people in broad daylight at a park," neighbor Aaron Cody said.

Westminster and Hidden Lake high schools were placed on a temporary lockdown during the investigation.

No names have been released.
