DIA Sets Record For Busiest October

DENVER (CBS4)- More people visited Denver International Airport in October compared to any other October in the airport's 19 years in operation.

DIA had 4,616,603 passengers in October, a 3.1 percent increase above the same month last year.

October is the second consecutive month with record-breaking passenger traffic and the eleventh consecutive month with year-over-year passenger traffic increases.

Passenger traffic for 2014 remains on a record-setting pace. Through the end of October DIA has seen 45,045,563 passengers during the same timeframe last year. The year-to-date passenger traffic is nearly one percent higher than in 2012, the previous year-to-date October record.

"October's record-setting passenger numbers are primarily attributable to large increases from United, Southwest, American and Spirit," said Denver International Airport CEO, Kim Day. "International passenger traffic growth also remained robust in October, which was the 30th straight month of international passenger expansion. Notable passenger traffic increases were on Lufthansa, Volaris and Icelandair."
