Denver's 77 Degree Temp Swing Rare, Even For The Rockies

DENVER (CBS4)- There aren't too many places on Earth that can boast about a weather change as dramatic as what happened in Denver this week.

A rare November arctic blast brought one of the most drastic three day temperature swings on record.

Between Monday and Wednesday Denver experienced a 77 degree drop in temperature.

That tied for the third largest three day temperature drop in the Denver climate record.

The largest three day drop was 80 degrees in February 1951.

The combination of close proximity to the east side of a large mountain barrier like the Rockies and a dry climate both contribute to such drastic changes.
