Authorities Release New Image Of Escaped Sex Offender

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) – Authorities continue to search for an inmate who escaped from the Jefferson County Jail Sunday night and released a new image of him on Tuesday.

Travis Sandlin, 32, got out of the jail by climbing out a small gap of fencing and dropping onto a roof.

Investigators say Sandlin may be in a blue Honda Pilot. It was taken from are area just off the Evergreen Parkway exit along Interstate 70 where another stolen car was abandoned.

Sandlin is 6-feet tall and weighs 185 pounds. He was wearing a grey jumpsuit when he escaped.

Sandlin escaped while he was outside with eight other inmates for 30 minutes of recreation. Deputies noticed Sandlin missing during a head count after the other inmates returned about 20 minutes later.

The sheriff's office said that because Sandlin needed to jump to escape, it's possible he's injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 303-271-5612.
