Woman Convicted In Home Explosion In Weld County

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A jury has convicted a woman charged in connection with a house explosion in Carr caused by the production of a marijuana concentrate like hash oil or marijuana wax.

The Weld County District Attorney's Office says 54-year-old Lavonne Bessler was convicted Wednesday of processing or manufacturing marijuana or marijuana concentrate. She is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 13.

Authorities say co-defendants Levi Allen and Clayton Smith were taken to a hospital with severe burns on their hands and arms after the Aug. 11, 2013, explosion, and a 7-year-old boy had minor injuries. Bessler was not home when the blast occurred, but prosecutors say she allowed the men to manufacture hash oil on her property.

Allen and Smith have yet to go to trial.
