Historic Byers Middle School Reopens Near Washington Park
DENVER (CBS4) - More than a decade after it closed, the historic Byers Junior High School campus reopened on Wednesday.
Located at South Pearl Street and Cedar Avenue, it's now called DSST: Byers Middle School. DSST stands for Denver School of Science and Technology.
The school was renovated, and includes a new gym, to help alleviate the strain on the growing Denver school population. The district is the fastest growing urban school district in the nation.
The school was built in 1921 and closed in 2003.
