The train, traveling south from Cheyenne to Denver, was between 37th and 29th streets near the 3200 block.

“The employees saw a male walking next to the train track. The male walked onto the tracks. The train applied its emergency brakes to try and stop the train but it was unable to stop in such a short distance and hit the pedestrian,” Sgt. Justin Chase with Loveland police said in a statement.

The male was found dead under the train.
