Bears Force Closure Of 11 Campsites Near Aspen
ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) - The U.S. Forest Service has closed 11 backcountry campsites near Aspen because of bears.
The animals broke into tents to get food at the Crater Lake campsites near Maroon Bells.
Rangers say the food left at campsites attracted the bears. They warn it's not safe for campers since the bears will likely return to look for more food.
There are no restrictions on day hiking or picnicking around Crater Lake.
