Rockies Activate 3B Arenado From 15-Day DL

DENVER (AP/CBS4) — The Colorado Rockies have activated third baseman Nolan Arenado from the 15-day disabled list and optioned left-hander Christian Friedrich to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Arenado is set to play Thursday night and bat sixth against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the opener of a four-game series.

Arenado broke the middle finger on his left hand sliding into second base in Atlanta on May 23. Arenado won a Gold Glove last year as a rookie. He is hitting .305.

"You know, I've been tracking and stuff like that even when I was on the DL so that was helping me out and seeing pitchers in rehab, that was great. Five at bats almost every game, so you know it went well and I feel comfortable and I feel good. I just want to be able to come here and do my part and help this team win somehow. We all have to pull for each other and do our jobs, hopefully I come in and do it," said Arenado.

The Rockies were 10-27 without him in the lineup.

Friedrich was 0-3 with a 9.45 ERA in three starts since being recalled June 21.
