Dougco Sheriff K9 Gets New Ballistic Vest Thanks To Nationwide Fundraiser
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) – A K9 with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office now has extra protection.
The group Vested Interest in K-9s donated a protective, ballistic vest for K9 officer Zoos.
Zoos’ handler says its a relief to know his partner has added protection.
The campaign raised more than $335,000 and has provided body armor for 350 police K9s nationwide.
All of the vests are embroidered with the sentiment “In Memory Of K9 Rocco, Pittsburgh Bureau Of Police.”
Rocco was stabbed to death while protecting his handler and another officer in January.
