Dougco Sheriff K-9 Gets New Ballistic Vest Thanks To Nationwide Fundraiser

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) – A K-9 with the Douglas County Sheriff’s office now has extra protection.

The group Vested Interest in K-9s donated a protective, ballistic vest for K9 officer Zoos.

Zoos’ handler says its a relief to know his partner has added protection.

The campaign raised more than $335,000 and has provided body armor for 350 police K9s nationwide.

All of the vests are embroidered with the sentiment “In Memory Of K-9 Rocco, Pittsburgh Bureau Of Police.”

Rocco was stabbed to death while protecting his handler and another officer in January.
