Denver Focuses On Pedestrians In This Week's 'Heads Up' Safety Campaign

DENVER (CBS4) - The city is asking residents to keep their heads up to keep them and others safe.

Wednesday's efforts, which included volunteers in bright yellow shirts handing out cards with safety tips at two intersections, focused on pedestrians.

"Pedestrians need to follow the law as well," Nancy Kuhn of Denver Public Works told CBS4. "They need to cross at the intersection. That is the lawful way to do it. (They need to) try to avoid coming out into the street between cars (and) wear bright clothing. Don't assume vehicles can see you. Try to make eye contact with vehicles."

The city will address bike safety next Wednesday.
