DENVER (CBS4) – Rent keeps rising in Colorado and the average now tops $1,000 a month.

The Colorado Division of Housing says rents have gone up 8 percent since last year. The average rent in the state is now $1,026 a month.

The biggest increase was in the Fort Collins-Loveland area.

The reason is demand outweighs vacant properties.
