DENVER (CBS4) – Denver now has a public elementary school open downtown.
The Downtown Denver Expeditionary School opened its doors on the Emily Griffith Campus on Wednesday.
Parents say it’s a chance for students to explore outside the classroom.
“Especially for people who do live downtown to be able to walk their kids to school and just use the downtown area and resources and opportunities to help learning,” said mom Angie Brew-Glissman.
This fall two more schools open in that facility at 19th Avenue and Lincoln Street — Emily Griffith High School and Emily Griffith Technical School.
The Denver Public Schools staff is also moving to that campus.
