ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4)– Dozens of families gathered to fly a kite for the 12th annual Arvada Kite Festival and the windy conditions made for a great day.
The festival was located at Stenger Soccer Complex at 58th and Quail in Arvada. It’s a free event for everybody and fun to watch even if you’re not flying a kite.
“It’s one of those things we do that’s not technology. It’s not an iPod or an iPad, it’s just fun. Simple fun,” said parent Brian Wishart.
There were flying competitions for several categories of kites, including the highest, smallest, largest and most visually-appealing kite.
There were other activities including face painting, balloon twisting, jumping houses, and the YMCA Kids Zone.
