Traffic Stop Turns Into Standoff In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A routine traffic stop turned into an hour and a half standoff at a Colorado Springs intersection early Wednesday.

Officers pulled over a vehicle they saw committing several traffic violations, but when they approached the driver, the driver slipped officers a note stating he wasn't coming out.

Two passengers got out of the vehicle, but police say the driver repeatedly refused.

After 80 minutes of negotiations by phone and loud speaker, the driver got out of the car and was arrested for an existing felony warrant, as well as several charges related to the standoff. Police identify the driver as 45-year-old Adrian Hill.
