Westminster Man, 85, Gives Blood For 680th Time

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - Bonfils Blood Center's highest-volume blood donor made his 680th donation on Thursday.

Bill Cell, 85, of Westminster, has donated 85 gallons worth of blood in his lifetime.

Bonfils recognized the undisputed champion donor with a certificate of appreciation.

Cell said the deed has started a family tradition.

"My wife thinks it's great. I actually got one son ... to decide to start donating blood," Cell said.

Cell started donating blood in 1946. He says he'll keep donating as long as possible.

Bonfils has a high demand during the holidays. They provide blood to nearly 200 hospitals and health care facilities across Colorado.
