DENVER (CBS4) - The new holiday show "SantaLand Diaries" comes to Denver and CBS4 Critic at Large Greg Moody gave it a sneak peak.

"SantaLand Diaries" is based on the 1992 David Sedaris essay about his tight time working as a holiday elf at Macy's SantaLand.

The piece cuts into the absurdities of the holidays themselves.

The adaptation of the story by Joe Mantello is now produced by the Boulder Ensemble Theater Company. It stars local Matt Zambrano in the role of Crumpet the Elf.

"There's bite and edge and a sometimes cynical take on Santa, but it also has some of the best laughs I've had at a holiday show in years," said Moody.

The "SantaLand Diaries" runs through Dec. 24 at the Garner Galleria Theater of the Denver Center. For tickets call 303-893-4100 or go online to denvercenter.org.
