DENVER (CBS4) - A car crashed into an apartment building in downtown Denver early Sunday morning, leaving three people hurt.

The crash happened at 3 a.m. at the Park Avenue West Apartment building at Park Avenue West and Stout Street.

"I was in bed asleep, and I just heard a loud crash. It woke me, and I came into my living room," Mary Jane Kreutz said, who lives in the building.

Kreutz's living room walls were damaged when the car came crashing through.

"There was a lot of damage to my living room area," Kreutz said. "All my furniture got shoved into the other room. It demolished the walls."

Two cars were involved in the crash, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Denver police say they're not sure if alcohol or drugs played a factor. Investigators are also still trying to figure out who's at fault.

Three people were hurt in the crash. One of them has serious injuries.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to them," Kreutz said.

Kreutz tells us this isn't the first time a car has hit her apartment building. Over the last 10 years she says two other cars smashed into her patio.

"I am afraid to live on this floor. I would like to get some type of guardrails maybe to protect from car accidents," Kreutz said.

Kreutz says she hopes to move to an upstairs apartment as police continue to investigate.

The driver of the car that ended up hitting the building was ticketed.
