Two Men Die In Trailer Accident Near Trinidad

TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado State Patrol says two men are dead after the trailer they were in crashed on the highway near Trinidad.

Trooper Michael Tafoya says the men were in a 2010 Freightliner that was pulling two trailers southbound on Interstate 25 Thursday morning. Tafoya says the accident happened after the driver failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, and lost control of the trailer, which rolled.

The driver was identified as 58-year-old Roberto Anaya of Ontario, Calif., and the passenger was 57-year-old Roberto Villarreal of Duarte, Calif. Tafoya says neither man was wearing a seat belt. They were pronounced dead at a hospital near the crash.

Tafoya says the accident is under investigation, but officials don't believe that speed, drugs, or alcohol contributed to the crash.
