Teen With Rare Disorder Signs Letter Of Intent With DU Hockey

DENVER (CBS4) - The newest member of the University of Denver hockey team is a 14-year-old who signed a letter of intent.

Adam Encrapera battles a very rare disorder that attacks every organ in his body except his brain. The Pioneers on Tuesday made him an honorary member of the team.

"Here's Adam's jersey with his favorite number. Gretzky stole it from him and he's taking it back," Pioneers head coach Jim Montgomery said to a laughing audience.

"This day means that it's really great to be with these guys and I'm happy to be part of this team, just hanging out with these guys and being able to just have fun," Encrapera said.

Only 500 people in the world suffer from Encrapera's genetic disorder.
