4 Restaurants Already Signed Up For New Lowry Dining District

DENVER (CBS4) - Developers broke ground Tuesday on a new dining district in Denver's Lowry neighborhood.

The new attraction will be located at Hanger No. 2 near Lowry Boulevard and Rampart Way.

The hangar is a holdover from Lowry's days as an air base. It's already home to a beer garden and several other businesses. Now the development team behind Larimer Square is hanging onto the hanger's historic feel as it adds a dining district to the old parking lot.

Four restaurants are already signed up.

Mayor Michael Hancock says the type of public-private collaboration shows Denver's neighborhoods are key to making the city's image even stronger.

"(It's) really about the heart and soul of our great city, which are our neighborhoods, and how we develop them and create unique spaces, and create great places for people to live, work and play," Hancock said.

Hancock says Denver is currently the number one city in the country for construction.
