DENVER (CBS4) - Police arrested a man overnight they say is responsible for threats made against employees of a Denver church.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dominique Richard, 60, on Wednesday and he was arrested early Thursday morning.

Administrators of Saint John's Episcopal Church on Washington Street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood closed their facility on Wednesday after reports of a threat came in on Tuesday.

CBS4 interviewed parishioners who were planning to go to the church on Wednesday and were surprised to find that it was closed. A sign on the door said "The Cathedral is locked due to a security concern."

Larry Wiberg teaches a religious class at the church.

"I've been here for 12 years and I don't recall any event like this," he said.

Police said Richard faces menacing charges and was in jail on a $1,000 bond. In addition to threats against the church employees he also faces charges of allegedly threatening a female.

The church's website says all activities at the church are canceled on Thursday.
