Police say the woman was just getting out of her car around 8 p.m. when the man came up behind her and forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. According to police, the woman tried to fight him off during the attack and eventually he ran off.

Jeanne Reneau, who works in the area, says the neighborhood gets its share of suspicious people at night.

"After a certain time frame it gets pretty scary and we've had people knock on our door," Reneau said. "I always lock the door at night because of that."

The suspect is described as a white man between 30 and 40 years old, about 6-foot-1 with a large build and facial stubble. Police say the thing that stood out to the victim the most was the man smelled strongly of gasoline and he had long fingernails.
