Colorado Springs Police Probe Ransom Demand Scam
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Springs police say someone who received a phone call demanding ransom for a kidnapped relative was the target of a scam.
Police say the intended victim walked into a police station on Monday and notified officers he was on a cellphone call with someone who claimed to be a member of a cartel demanding money.
Authorities are still trying to find a suspect. The intended victim refused to pay.
Police said scammers are using social media to gather information about people and they warned the public to be careful what they post online.
