Man Sentenced In Sexual Assault Cold Case

DENVER (CBS4) - A man convicted in an unlawful sexual contact with force cold case has been sentenced to the maximum possible prison sentence.

Steven Lee Hill, 27, was sentenced to an indeterminate sentence of 12 years to life prison.

According to police, on Aug. 30, 2007, Hill attacked a 59-year-old woman who was walking along a bike path in the 9000 block of east Mississippi Avenue.

"The victim was able to get away and ran for help. Although a suspect was not identified at the time, DNA left on the victim's clothing resulted in a CODIS match and Hill was eventually identified as a suspect," Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office said in a statement.

The sentence will run consecutive to an Adams County sex assault conviction, which carries a 24-to-life sentence.
