FEMA Provides $12.3M In Flood Assistance So Far

DENVER (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency says they've provided $12.3 million in assistance to Colorado flood victims, with nearly all of the money going to temporary housing and home repairs.

FEMA spokesman Jerry DeFelice said Saturday the dollar figure is expected to increase in the coming days as housing inspections are completed. The housing aid includes proving money for people to find temporary rentals, or paying for home repairs.

DeFelice says more than 14,000 people have registered for FEMA assistance.

The American Red Cross also continues to provide assistance. Officials planned to distribute 17 truckloads of supplies to flood victims this weekend. Shelters are still open but officials say the need for them is decreasing as more roads reopen.
