Rangers Recover Body Of Colorado Man In Grand Teton National Park
MOOSE, Wyo. (AP) – The body of a Colorado man who fell to his death Friday has been recovered by Grand Teton National Park rangers.
The Park Service says the body of 40-year-old Edward Tom of Boulder was recovered Saturday in Garnet Canyon. He fell to his death while scouting for a campsite following heavy rain and hail.
Tom apparently fell over a cliff band.
Park officials say Tom and his climbing partner intended to spend Friday night at a backcountry camping area before climbing the Grand Teton on Saturday.
The Park Service says 911 calls reported that a man fell nearly 100 feet and was unconscious. Two physicians in the area were providing emergency medical care when rangers arrived.
Weather and darkness forced rangers to delay the recovery operation until Saturday morning.
