Coors Field Garden Harvest Yields Nice Veggie Crop
DENVER (CBS4) - Coors Field will soon be offering some home-grown food at its concession stands.
The ballpark partnered with Colorado State University this year to create an on-site garden. On Friday chefs, students and staff from CSU harvested the vegetables. They will be used in some of the food sold at the ballpark, including a build-your-own salad station.
Coors Field officials say the garden idea originated after fans started asking for healthier options.
"This is a really, really a great thing and the product is obviously very fresh. It's not anything like what I can get from normal food providers," a chef said.
Coors Field believes it has the first on-site garden in Major League Baseball.
