Labor Day Holiday Traffic Backs Up I-70 For Miles

EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4)- People traveling to the mountains for the long holiday weekend are in for a long wait on Friday night. Traffic was backed up westbound on Interstate 70 from the Eisenhower Tunnel to Evergreen.

The Colorado Department of Transportation's camera showed a line of red tail lights stretching from the Evergreen parkway and disappearing into the horizon where the sun was setting Friday evening.

Traffic is typically heavy along I-70 for the long Labor Day weekend but travel experts predict with the past week's near record temperatures more people than ever will want some relief from the heat.

With Friday's traffic travelers can once again expect long delays on Monday as everyone heads back down the mountain.
