Court Documents: Ty Lawson Arrest Involved Girlfriend

DENVER (CBS4) - Court records show the Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson arrest started with an incident involving his girlfriend.

Lawson was arrested in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident in Arapahoe County on Saturday.

He appeared in court on Monday and is free on bond.

Court documents show that Lawson and his girlfriend argued after she heard him talking to another woman on the phone.

Police stated both took each other's phones and threw them against the wall.

Lawson then allegedly put his girlfriend's phone under water.

"We are fully aware of an incident involving Ty Lawson over the weekend. Per team policy and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time," said Nuggets General Manager and Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly.

Lawson signed a four-year contract extension with the team last October. He averaged 16.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.47 steals in 73 games last season.

Lawson's girlfriend is also facing a charge of criminal mischief.
