Armed Man Robs Lakewood Best Buy Of iPads

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Lakewood police are looking for a man who pulled a gun on a Best Buy clerk and stole dozens of iPads.

According to police the suspect walked into the store on Wadsworth Boulevard about 1 p.m. Monday and asked to buy two of the tablets.

When the storage cage was unlocked he pulled a gun and told the clerk, "It's going to get messy if you don't do what I say."

"You don't think you're putting yourself in danger when you're in a situation like that," said Best Buy customer Ralph Gilley. "That's awful."

The suspect forced the clerk to put as many iPads as he could into the basket. Then he ran out of the store, tripping the alarms.

He apparently got away in a dark colored Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a woman with dark, curly hair and glasses.

Police are searching for the thief who is described as Hispanic in his late 20s to early 30s, clean cut and wearing dark-rimmed glasses.

"But it happens everywhere. It doesn't matter. It's a store with loot and he's going to get it so just give it to him," said Best Buy customer Desiree Imfeld.

Best Buy isn't commenting about the situation but the thief was captured on surveillance video.

Police are warning other electronic stores about what happened and to be alert if he tries to strike again.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lakewood Police.
