Weld County Sheriff's Deputy Arrested After Standoff
EVANS, Colo. (CBS4) - A Weld County sheriff's deputy is on unpaid leave after allegedly threatening a relative with a gun.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday police say Ed Herring made the threat inside a home on the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue in Evans. Crews evacuated about 100 people in the neighborhood and a nearby school was alerted to keep children inside the building.
Herring surrendered 4 hours later. He is retired from the full-time force but had been working part time with the department.
