Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon Announces 'Mini Marathon'

DENVER (CBS4) - Joggers who prefer running shorter distances will be pleased to hear that the Sports Authority Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & ½ Marathon now offers a "Mini Marathon."

The race covers 3.7 miles of the marathon course and some of the bands on the sidelines of the marathon will be playing for the shorter-distance runners. The Mini Marathon will not be timed.

Race spokesman Alan Culpepper said there have been mini marathons at other Rock 'n' Roll events and they have been popular for beginners.

A 20 mile bike tour on the marathon course will return again this year after a successful first year last year.

The events all take place on Oct. 20.

Now through the end of the day on Thursday the registration cost for the Mini Marathon is being offered at a special rate of $30.
