4-Year-Old Dies At Swimming Pool At Mobile Home Park In Thornoton

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Thornton are investigating after a 4-year-old child died at a pool at a trailer park.

Officer Matt Barnes with Thornton police said at approximately 2:56 p.m. officers responded to a call about a possible drowning at the Pine Lakes Ranch Mobile Home Community clubhouse pool.

"Citizens had removed the child from the pool prior to police and fire arrival and had initiated CPR," Barnes said in a statement.

Barnes said the child, from Lafayette, was last seen in the children's pool.

"The child had somehow entered the adult pool and was later found to be floating face down in the water," Barnes said.

There approximately 50 in the pool area, including the child's family members, when the incident occurred. Police are investigating the events that occurred prior to the boy being found.

The exact cause and manner of death will be determined by the Adams County Coroner's Office.
