Ryan Villopoto Sweeps Motos At Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Ryan Villopoto swept the 450 class motos Saturday at Thunder Valley Motocross Park to remain perfect after two rounds in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

Villopoto, the Monster Energy Kawasaki star from Poulsbo, Wash., also swept the motos last week in the season-opening Hangtown event in California.

On Satuday in the Thunder Valley National, Villopoto beat Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey by 10.2 seconds in the first moto, and edged Dungey by 6.9 seconds in the second.

"We got a pair of wins today and we're really going to try to keep it rolling," Villopoto said. "With the way the racing is this year and the guys that are in the class, just to be up front means you're riding well."

Justin Barcia was third overall, finishing third in the first moto and fourth in second.

Eli Tomac, the GEICO Honda rider from Cortez, Colo., won the 250 division for his first victory in his home state, finishing second in the first moto and winning the second.

"It feels good to get the win today," Tomac said, "I feel like I've kind of let Colorado down the past few years. I actually haven't been close to leading a race here at all, so to finally make it happen today was sweet."

Ken Roczen, the Hangtown winner, was second after winning the first moto and finishing third in the second.

The riders wore "Oklahoma Strong" stickers to honor the tornado victims.
